In Response to Mark Townsend’s Article in “the guardian.co.uk” on the EDL – DDL Summit

 

 

This is written in response to the article titled: “Far Right Militants Fail to Strike a Blow Against Islam on Their Danish Awayday.” by, Mark Townsend of the guardian.co.uk.  http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/apr/01/english-defence-league-european-summit-aarhus

Where do I even begin..?  Well, let’s start with the title of the article;

Mr. Townsend’s lack of intellect almost over shadows his demise for truth and slant towards islam.  Perhaps I should take a few minutes to educate the young lad.

“Far Right Militants..?”   ..Are you serious..?  That is some of the greatest mis-use of false rhetoric that I have witnessed in several years.  Not to mention… Mr. Townsend clearly does not know his left from his right.  The EDL, the DDL and the ADL (American Defence League) are not aggressors… there is no.. “militance”… but rather… they are a response to aggression.  They are “defenders” … protecting and defending the last fibers of the nations they love.  Generations upon Generations, for hundreds of years have been born, lived and died… on the blessed land we call .. England, Denmark, Norway, The United States… and many other nations of the world.

We find ourselves today, watching our beloved countries being disrepected, spat upon, trampled and transgressed… by islam and the muslim perpetrators.  They have their own nations… but, that is not enough for them.  They wish to steal our land and rape our women, as they have done to Israel for thousands of years.

Also, for your information… Mr. Townsend, None of these organizations are… “Far Right”… “Fascists” as you falsely equated.

Nazi is an acronym for – Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (German)  (or)  The National Socialist German Workers Party. (English)

The Nazi’s were Ultra-Left Socialists… (ie) Left-Wing Radicals.  Their Fascism was extreme leftist national socialism… just as their name clearly states.

Islam is in the same catagory as the Nazi’s.  Islam desires an extreme governmental control in the same manner.

So.. In conclusion, to address the DDL, the EDL, the ADL and All of the other Defence Leagues as …”Far Right”…

You got that right..!!  We are all far away… from the nazi’s, the islamists and the like…

God Bless and Guide the Brave Men and Women of the Defence Leagues who stand guard on the walls of their Nations and defend their fellow countrymen…  and, say… “Not on my watch.. will islam destroy us all..”

Mr. Townsend… Might I request.. before you write your next article… Please educate yourself… because a brain is a terrible thing to waste.

Tommy Robinson of the English Defence League to Appear on BBC Show, “The Big Questions”

BBC programme makers agreed to pay the air fare of one of Britain’s most   controversial far-Right campaigners, so that he could appear in a panel show   on Sunday morning.

Tommy Robinson, the leader of the English Defence League, told those gathered   to hear him speak at an meeting of anti-Islamic groups in Aarhus, Denmark,   that he had to leave early to appear on The Big Questions, a Sunday morning   talk show hosted by Nicky Campbell.

“I’d love to stay longer,” he said, explaining that he had to leave at 7pm.   “They’re paying for my flight.”

Mr Robinson, whose ticket is thought to cost up to £100, also accused Muslim men   in the Swedish city of Malmo, where the EDL is planning another   demonstration, of turning it into the “rape capital of Europe”,

“It’s like a foreign ideology has come into Sweden and started raping the   women,” he said. “Malmo’s now the rape capital of Europe. It’s Swedish women   being raped by Muslim men.”

When Mr Robinson was contacted by The Sunday Telegraph to find out the cost of   the flight ticket, he retracted the claim that the programme makers were   paying for it, saying it had been paid for by EDL bankrollers.

However, the BBC confirmed that The Big Question, which is produced on the   corporations behalf by Mentorn Media, had indeed agreed to cover his travel   costs.

A BBC spokesman said: “On the weekend that the EDL and far-right groups are   holding a rally in Denmark, the moral and ethical debate programme, The Big   Questions, will be asking if Britain is too complacent about the Far Right.   Contributors travel costs are covered as standard by Mentorn Media who   produce The Big Questions. As a key contributor to this particular   discussion, Tommy Robinson travel from Denmark is entirely necessary and   reasonable. We are not paying him a fee for his appearance”.

The cost of the ticket is understood within the programme’s budget and not an   additional cost to the BBC. However, as the commissioners of the programme,   its budget is ultimately financed by licence payers.

The “European Counter-Jihad Meeting” was attended by less than 300   activists, drawn from the Danish, Norwegian, German, Finnish and Polish   Defence Leagues, as well groups like Stop Islamisation of Europe.

Supporters of the the EDL and its European sister organisations were   outnumbered by a factor of more than 10-to-one by a parallel demonstration   organised by anti-fascist and Left-wing campaigners.

The anti-fascist demonstration drew as many as 5,000, according to Jørn   Andersen, one of the organisers.

“We don’t need that many people,” Mr Robinson retorted. “When we first started   out in England we were outnumbered by the anti-fascists.”

“We have come to plant a seed. That seed will go back to every European   country and it will develop across Europe.”

He said that the EDL planned to follow the demo in Aarhus with further rallies   in Paris and Brussels as well.

Booked at late notice, a Ryanair flight from Aarhus to London Stanstead is   likely to have cost between £50 and £100.

The city of Aarhus was notorious ten years ago for regular clashes between   local neo-Nazi groups and Denmark’s militant Left, and the two   demonstrations were kept apart by a large police presence.

“It is one of the largest operations we’ve ever had in Jutland,” Bent Preben   Nielsen, chief inspector of the Aarhus police, said.

A small group of anti-fascist campaigners who attempted to enter the park   chanting when TommyRobinson began to speak were rapidly blocked.

Police arrested 82 Left-wing activists after they attempted to enter the   square where the counter-jihad meeting was held, leaving four police   officers with minor injuries.

12-Year-old Girl and 15-Year-old Boy Murdered in Acid Attack for Being Friends

 

GHAZNI, Afghanistan — A 12-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy have been killed in an acid attack in Afghanistan, an official said Saturday, with witnesses claiming it was because of their friendship in what is an ultra-conservative country.

The bodies were discovered on Friday in wasteland in the Esfandi area of Ghazni province in south central Afghanistan, provincial police chief Zorawar Zahid told AFP.

“Their bodies and faces were burnt by acid,” he said.

The police chief said officers were investigating the motive for the attack, but witnesses who found the bodies told AFP the two were probably killed because of their friendship.

No one has claimed the bodies, which are still in Ghazni hospital, police said.

The attack is the latest incident to highlight the dangers still faced by many young men and women in Afghanistan 10 years after a US-led invasion ousted the Taliban, notorious for their oppressive policies against women and conservative attitude towards relationships.

On December last year, a 17-year-old Afghan girl and her family were sprayed with acid, apparently after rejecting a marriage proposal. The girl, Mumtaz, was seriously injured when several masked gunmen broke into her home in the northern city of Kunduz and sprayed acid in her face.

As a consultation looking into criminalising forced marriage in England, Wales and Northern Ireland reaches its end figures have shown a 5-year-old may be the UK’s youngest victim.
The child is one of 400 in the last year to receive assistance from the government’s Forced Marriage Unit.
Joint head of the Forced Marriage Unit, Amy Cumming, said 29% of the cases it dealt with last year involved minors.
“The youngest of these was actually five years old, so there are children involved in the practice across the school age range,” she said.
The case comes as no surprise to the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organisation (IKWRO): “We have had clients who are in their very early teens, 11-year-olds, 12-year-olds, the youngest case we had was nine years old.”
IKWRO campaigns officer Fionnuala Murphy said that now the consultation is over she hopes forced marriage will become a criminal offence.
“Our organisation is pro-criminalisation because we believe that it will empower victims to know that this is a crime, to stand up to their parents and to stand up for their own rights and it will enable them to come forward and seek help and say what’s happening to me is wrong.”
Equalities Minister Lynne Featherstone said the government would now look at all the arguments.
“We will now consider all of those views and responses to the consultation before we make a decision on the best way to protect vulnerable people.
“We are determined, working closely with charities and other organisations doing a tremendous amount in this area, to make forced marriage a thing of the past.”
A decision is expected to be announced later this year.

19 Radical Muslims Arrested in French Raids

 

Police in France have  arrested 19 suspected Islamist militants and seized weapons in a series  of dawn raids, President Nicolas Sarkozy says.

The raids were in Toulouse, the home of gunman Mohamed Merah, and other cities.

Merah, who killed seven people in three separate attacks, was  buried in Toulouse on Thursday after being killed in a shoot-out with  police on 22 March.

Police have been hunting possible accomplices but sources said there was no direct link with the raids.

Mr Sarkozy told Europe 1 radio after Friday’s raids: “It’s  our duty to guarantee the security of the French people. We have no  choice. It’s absolutely indispensable.

The raids were carried out by the domestic intelligence  agency, the DCRI, with the help of the elite Raid police commando group,  Agence France-Presse news agency reports.

Several of the raids were in Toulouse, particularly the Mirail quarter, sources told AFP.

But there were also raids in Nantes, which is believed to be a centre for the Forsane Alizza (Knights of Pride) group, to which Merah had been linked by some French media.

It is a Salafist group that was dissolved by the interior ministry in an earlier investigation.

Cracking down on Islamic extremism has been good for Sarkozy’s campaign. He is now ahead in the first round election and is narrowing the gap between himself and his socialist opponent for the run off election in May.

Sarkozy has compared the attacks on Jewish children in Toulouse and Montauban to 9/11:

“What must be understood is that the trauma of Montauban and Toulouse is  profound for our country, a little – I don’t want to compare the horrors  – a little like the trauma that followed in the United States and in  New York after the September 11, 2001 attacks.”

Convicted Terrorist Testifies About Muslim Brotherhood in America (video)

If there were still any lingering doubts as to whether the Muslim American Society–or MAS–is an American arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, they were put to rest recently by none other than convicted terrorist Abdurrahman Alamoudi. Testifying under oath in a northern Virginia courtroom on March 14th, Alamoudi–who was once a top Muslim advisor to the U.S. government under both the Clinton and Bush administrations before being convicted in an Al-Qaeda plot to kill the Saudi Crown Prince–confirmed what MAS is really up to in the United States. Hint: it doesn’t involve  peaceful co-existence and interfaith tolerance, as MAS leaders would have you believe. Here’s more on Alamoudi’s explosive (no pun intended) and underreported testimony, from the Investigative Project on Terrorism:
The Muslim American Society(MAS) was created as a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in America, and continues to serve that function today, a man who once was one of the most influential Muslim political leaders testified in a Virginia courtroom Wednesday.

“Everyone knows that MAS is the Muslim Brotherhood,” Abdurrahman Alamoudi told federal investigators in a January interview from a federal correctional facility. On the witness stand, Alamoudi claimed not to remember everything he said, but accepted that he had made the statement after government lawyers showed him records of the interview.

Alamoudi promised “to testify truthfully and completely at any grand juries, trials or other proceedings in the United States” as part of a 2004 guilty plea. He admitted engaging in illegal transactions with Libya and facilitating a Libyan plot to assassinate then-Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah.

His testimony Wednesday came as part of a civil suit brought by Jamal Abusamhadaneh against the government demanding he be naturalized as an American citizen. His application was denied after officials learned he lied about being associated with the Muslim American Society, failing to disclose the association on his naturalization application. In a subsequent interview, an immigration official further pressed him to reveal his connection to MAS or the Brotherhood, but he repeatedly denied ties to each.

Alamoudi, who had signed a work visa for Abusamhadaneh, was the original source for information about the plaintiff’s Brotherhood ties. Abusamhadaneh claims he was following the advice of his attorney at the time, Ashraf Nubani, who told him affiliations with religious organizations do not need to be disclosed to the government. He also says he never was a dues paying MAS member, although he acknowledges attending many of the organization’s events.

Coptic Christian Church Withdraws Representatives From Constituent Assembly

 

State-run MENA news service reported on Thursday that the Coptic Orthodox Church withdrew its representatives from the constituent assembly that is meant to draft the new constitution. The Islamist-dominated assembly is currently facing fierce criticism.

MENA quoted an unnamed church sources as saying that the decision to withdraw church representatives came in solidarity with the minority liberal forces in Parliament. The church was represented by adviser Nabil Merhem and lawyer Magdy Shenouda.

Privately owned Al-Shorouk newspaper’s website quoted a church source as saying, “The Coptic Orthodox Church will issue its final decision to withdraw its representatives from the constituent assembly within hours.”

The newspaper added that the church’s decision came after it issued a statement demanding the inclusion of an article in the constitution ensuring a civilian state and full citizenship rights to all Egyptians.

It also said the church demanded adding a clause to Article 2 of the constitution that allows Copts to recourse to their own law with regard to personal and religious matters and to practice their rituals according to the Coptic Orthodox faith.

In a statement on Thursday, the Coptic Orthodox Lay Council in Alexandria criticized the formation of the constituent assembly, saying it did not represent all segments of Egyptian society including minority political parties, syndicates, associations and bodies as well as women and Copts.

The statement added that the council submitted a memorandum to the ruling Supreme Council of Armed Forces on the issue.

On Thursday, Al-Azhar withdrew its only representative from the constituent assembly. As the influential religious institution removed its delegate, Nasr Farid Wasel, a former state mufti, it expressed reservations over the assembly make-up and described its representation as “inappropriate.”

Was the Death of Fakhra Yunus… Truly a “Suicide?”

Do we know at this time where Bilal Khar was at the moment of the death of Fakhra?

Is it possible Bilal was involved in her death?  Perhaps Bilal feared that Fakhra would testify against him.

Is it possible someone was paid to push Fakhra from the Hotel Balconey and make it appear as a suicide?

At this point… there are many questions that need to be answered.

I do hope we can obtain a detailed and complete investigation by Italian Police, into the “sudden death” of Fakhra Yunus.  If not, than an investigation team needs to be sent in immediately.

Muslim Dad Butchers Teen Daughter for Having Photo of American Actor on Her Phone

An Algerian man used a kitchen knife to slaughter his 16-year-old daughter after discovering pictures of American and Turkish actors in her mobile phone.

The man, identified as B. Majeed, sent his second wife and her children to her family so he could be left alone with his teen age daughter, Lidya.

“After finding photographs of some American and Turkish actors in her mobile phone, the father decided to kill his daughter and made plans for the murder,” the Algerian Arabic language daily Al Nahar said.

“When he was alone with her at home, he grabbed her and put the knife on her neck…he then slaughtered her like a sheep.”

The paper said the man, who had Lidya from his first wife, then phoned the police and surrendered to them.

Woman Stabbed 15 Times After Husband Dreamed She Was Cheating

Istanbul, Turkey

Two men on Monday assaulted their wives, whom they claimed were having extra-marital affairs.

Mehmet Gezen of İzmir had a dream Sunday night that his 18-year-old wife, Fatma Gezen, was having an affair with another man in their neighborhood, Son Dakika reported on Monday. After returning home from work on Monday, he got in an argument with his wife over the dream. Out of jealousy, he said, he took a knife from the kitchen, stabbed Fatma Gezen 15 times and then fled the scene.

Neighbors heard Gezen’s screams and alerted the police and paramedics, who took her to Tepecik Training and Research Hospital. Gezen was severely injured and remains in critical condition. The İzmir Police Department has launched an investigation into the incident and continues to search for Mehmet Gezen.

In İstanbul, a woman was beaten so badly by her husband on Monday that she required hospitalization.

Çetin K. assaulted his wife, Ayfer Boz K., during an argument that began Sunday night and lasted until early Monday morning, the Cihan news agency reported Monday afternoon. Ayfer Boz K. was able to call her mother, Hatice Boz, who contacted the police.

Police arrested Çetin K. and paramedics took Ayfer Boz K. to the hospital. Boz told police that the argument had begun after her son-in-law accused her daughter of having an affair. According to Boz, Çetin K. regularly beat her daughter.

Legal and sociological experts and activists stress that there is no justification for gender-based violence, a pressing issue in Turkey.

Lawyer reprimanded for ‘honor’ comment

The Diyarbakır Bar Association reprimanded a lawyer who said a victim who had been murdered by her husband and his relative was responsible for her own death, the Independent Communication Network (Bianet) reported on Monday.

Z.Y. argued recently that his clients and alleged murderers of Gülistan Gümüş, who was shot to death in 2006, were trying to salvage their honor. “Honor and love of one’s country are like God’s love. Gülistan Gümüş was not innocent,” he said. The Diyarbakır Bar Association issued him a warning, stating Z.Y.’s comments violated professional code and were outside the scope of defense.

Gümüş, 22, was killed for “not behaving in accordance with the social rules of the region,” according to a Diyarbakır court statement from 2007. It said Gümüş was simply being “different” from regional norms for having a cell phone, arguing with her husband, wanting her family to move to another city despite her husband’s reluctance and frequently visiting her family in central Diyarbakır.

50,000 Christians Forced Out of Homes in Homs, Syria by Muslim Violence

Damascus, Syria, Mar 27, 2012 / 04:04 am (CNA).- Almost all Christians in the conflict-torn Syrian city of Homs have fled violence and persecution, amid reports that their homes have been attacked and seized by “fanatics” with links to al-Qaida.

With ninety percent of Christians having reportedly left their homes, the violence is driving fears that Syria could become a “second Iraq” with church attacks, kidnappings and forced expulsions of believers.

The exodus of 50,000 or more Christians has taken place largely in the past six weeks. It is part of al-Qaida-linked militant Islamic groups’ “ongoing ethnic cleansing” of Christians, according to Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need.

Homs has been home to one of Syria’s largest Christian populations and Church sources say that the faithful have borne the brunt of the violence. They have escaped to villages, many of which are in mountains 30 miles outside the city.

Islamists have allegedly gone from house to house in the Homs neighborhoods of Hamidiya and Bustan al-Diwan and have forced Christians to leave without giving them a chance to take their belongings.

The crisis in Homs has increased fears that Islamists are gaining influence in the region in the power vacuum left by the overthrow of other Arab governments in the “Arab Spring.”

The comparisons with Iraq are also ominous. Anti-Christian violence in Iraq has helped drive the Christian population from 1.4 million in the late 1980s to less than 300,000 today.

In both Syria and Iraq the Church is being targeted for its perceived close links with regimes under attack from opposition parties and rebel groups.

The uprising in Syria started in March 2011 with protests advocating political reform. The uprising has become increasingly militarized. More than 8,000 people have been killed in the conflict in the past year, U.N. figures say.

Many in the opposition are from the country’s Sunni majority, while religious minorities continue to back President Bashar al-Assad. The exiled Syrian Muslim Brotherhood has said it will not monopolize power in a new regime but will back a democratic state with equality for all citizens and respect for human rights.

On March 26, Syrian government forces shelled Homs and carried out arrest raids. A human rights group says that government forces appear to be preparing to retake rebel-held parts of the city, the Associated Press reported.

The government has accused insurgents of terrorism and international conspiracy, while the government itself faces accusations of torture and massacres of civilians.

The Christian community has suffered from terrorist attacks in other cities.

On March 18, a car bomb explosion targeted the Christian quarter of Aleppo, close to the Franciscan-run Church of St. Bonaventure. Aid to the Church in Need is helping families of the victims.

“The people we are helping are very afraid,” said Bishop Antoine Audo of Aleppo, who is overseeing the aid program. “The Christians don’t know what their future will hold. They are afraid they will not get their homes back.”

The displaced people of Homs are desperate for food and shelter. Aid to the Church in Need has announced an urgent $100,000 aid package to relieve their needs.

Each family will receive $60 each month for basic food and lodging. Organizers of the assistance hope that they can return home by the summer.

Bishop Audo told Aid to the Church in Need that it is very important to help those in distress.

“Pray for us and let us work together to build peace in Syria,” he said.

I have received many requests for an update on brother Youcef.  On October 10, 2011, the local court in Rasht, Iran sent a letter to the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khameini, requesting his legel opinion in the case of Youcef Nadarkhani. There has still been no response from the Ayatollah to this letter. We can confirm that Youcef is still alive in Lakan prison in Rasht.  Though we received word that his execution could be imminent, neither he nor his attorneys have received a written verdict or execution order. Through the power of Jesus Christ and your prayers he has been preserved alive to this day. We give credit to the Spirit of God moving in hearts and minds around the world and causing them to take action to help Youcef. Please continue to pray for him, his family, and his church. Woman Stoned to Death for Trying to Save Daughter From Rape

Stoning, mentioned in the Bible, is still happening today.

CAIRO: According to a report by Relief Web, a woman was stoned to death on Sunday by two gunmen in Kabkabiya, North Darfur, which is in the Sudan on the Libyan and Chadian border.

The woman went with her daughter, who is 12, to fetch water. On returning to their home gunmen attacked them in a valley near their village, said a witness.

The gunmen tried to rape the daughter but the woman moved to defend her. A gunman grabbed a rock and threw it at the woman; he proceeded to hit her with more rocks killing the woman, added the witness to Radio Dabanga.

The incident was reported to the local police.

In Khartoum, three gunmen raided a house of a newly-married couple on Saturday morning, and proceeded to gang rape the new bride in front of her husband.

Sources said the men raped the man’s wife and then stole cash from the house before fleeing.

No Justice for Fakhra Yunus – No Peace for Bilal Khar (video)

 

ROME: The long standing and once highly publicised case of acid victim Fakhra Younus met its tragic end on March 27 when she jumped to her death in the Italian city of Rome. Her body is due to reach Karachi on Sunday, Express News reported.

Yunus, wife of former Member of Provincial Assembly Bilal Khar, had been undergoing treatment for acid scarred tissue, including multiple corrective surgeries in Rome.

In 1998, Yunus was an 18 year old resident of Napier Road’s Bulbul Bazar, Karachi’s red light district, when she met the then Muzaffargarh MPA Bilal Khar.

They both got married after a six month relationship. This was Bilal’s third marriage, while Yunus had a three year old son from an earlier liaison.

Little did Yunus know, that this was not meant to be her fairytale marriage, since shortly after the marriage, she faced both physical and mental abuse by Khar, which lasted for three years before she eventually escaped and moved in with her mother.

An infuriated Khar, with his bruised ego, took ‘revenge’ by pouring acid over her on May 14, 2000, as her five-year-old son watched. The attack left her severely burned, particularly her face. She, however, survived the attack but not before spending three months in intensive care.

Khar used his political influence to evade arrest and absconded, while Yunus’s family faced difficulty in registering an FIR against him.

On October 31, 2002, Khar was eventually arrested, but released in 2003 on Rs 200,000 bail.

To recap: one acid-burn victim leaped to her death. One acid-burn perpetrator sits comfortably in his home. And one-acid burn perpetrator’s cousin is presenting prizes to a documentarian whose Oscar-winning film was about acid-burning women.

There’s something very wrong with this picture, both literally and metaphorically.

To be clear, I don’t mean to indict or implicate Hina Rabbani Khar for her cousin’s crimes. Maybe deep in her heart she hates her cousin and what he did. We cannot know. But frankly, I’m not terribly interested in knowing what’s going on deep in her heart. (Update: For the record, here’s what Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy tweeted about HRK: “she was most concerned about acid violence saying she had a personal connection- v genuine”).

Incidentally, this type of thing is exactly why a lot of Pakistanis get angry when fashion shows and Birkin bags are taken as synonymous with liberty in the western press. It’s not just to be snarky to incurious and lazy western journalists. It’s because we know these people inside out. We know how Birkin owners think and act away from the cameras. They are, as a general rule, some of the most illiberal people you will find in our country.

Update III: And via ExTrib, please watch Mr. Bilal Khar claim his innocence, argue that Fakhra killed herself because she had no money rather than the acid attack, use the word “kanjar” at least three times on national television, plea for understanding based on his having three daughters (what would he do if one of them married someone like himself?), and channel the Musharrafian argument that women in Pakistan are good with violence because it guarantees foreign visas and donor money.

Another Muslim ‘Man’, Another Wife… Another Acid Attack

MULTAN:

A woman in Multan was hospitalised on Monday with burns she suffered in an acid attack allegedly by her husband to stop her from continuing a job. 

Doctors who treated the victim at Nishter Hospital said 60 per cent of her face was damaged. They said she also had suffered burns to her neck and arms. Deputy medical superintendent Noor Jauta told The Tribune that surgery would be required to fix the woman’s wounds. He said the reports of a medical examination to be carried out on Monday night would determine the kind of operation. The DMS described the victim’s condition as ‘out of danger’.

Talking to The Tribune at the hospital, the victim said the attack on Sunday night had followed an argument over her job at an advertising agency. “He wanted me to quit the job and stay home. He said he would send our son to work to ensure that the family income was not affected,” she said. She said she wanted everyone of her four children, all under eight years old, to finish their schooling before they started working.

The victim said the suspect had accused her of continuing the job so that she could maintain ‘relationships’ with other men. “I had taken up the job to help him feed the family. His income as a personal assistant to a lawyer was not enough to run a family of six people,” she said.

She said the suspect fled the scene following the attack.

Gulgasht police have registered an FIR against Muneer Ahmed*, husband of the victim, under Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

SHO Amir Khan said the complaint filed by the victims’ sister did not require the inclusion of Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (needed to be added in acid attack cases in accordance with a recent legislation making the offence non-bailable) in the FIR. He said the police might reconsider the decision about the section as the case progressed.

The complainant told The Tribune that she had rushed to her sister’s house on receiving a phone call from the suspect at around 3am on Monday. “He said someone had attacked one of their children with acid and asked me to go to his house to help her take the child to hospital,” she said. The suspect told her that he was away from home and could not return anytime soon, she added. The complainant said on reaching the scene she found out that her sister had been attacked with acid.
