London 7/7 Bombing
by, Mudar Zahran | Gatestone Institute
If you look at the London Tube Bombing of 7/7; the Madrid Train Bombing; two attacks on the World Trade Center; the murders of Lee Rigby, Theo Van Gogh, Daniel Pearl, Nick Berg, Ilan Halimi, and countless other attack and threats, how can we honestly expect people not to be “Islamophobic”? It would appear we have no one to blame but ourselves.
If we Muslims are actually opposed to these Islamist hate preachers, why are we failing to take a unanimous public stance against them, to disown and isolate them from our community?
After the murder of British soldier Lee Rigby by Islamic extremists in London last May, The Guardian reported a surge in the number of anti-Muslim offenses.
Also, last May, a poll by the British research firm, YouGov, showed that nearly two-thirds of Britons believe there will be a “clash of civilizations” between British Muslims and white Britons, and 34% believe that Muslims pose a serious threat to democracy.
As a Muslim living in the UK, I wonder, who is to blame for the increase in anti-Muslim feelings in the U.K.? Or is the problem “Islamophobia”?
If one dispassionately examines facts, it seems possible that if “Islamophobia” exists in the U.K., then perhaps we Muslims are to blame for it.
For a start, let us look at the murder of soldier Lee Rigby, who was butchered in Woolwich, near his army barracks, on May 22, 2013 by two British Muslim converts.
The murderers, Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale were both 29 and born to Christian families. Both are reported by the Daily Mail to have been inspired by the British Muslim cleric Anjem Choudary. Therefore, can we Muslims blame the British public if they fear for their young men and women, and would prefer them not to associate with us and possibly become Islamically radicalized?
Anjem Choudary — the Muslim cleric who “inspired” Rigby’s murderers — has a lavish history of inciting Islamic fundamentalism and hatred against Britain. He refused, for example, to condemn the July 7, 2005 London bombings and even spoke favorably about the “black flag of Sharia flying over Downing Street [the Prime Ministers’ office] by 2020”.
In an interview on April 11, 2013 Choudhry said, “As Muslims, we reject democracy, we reject secularism, and freedom, and human rights. We reject all of the things that you espouse as being ideals … There is nothing called a republic in Islam. When we talk about the sharia, we are talking about only the sharia. We are talking about rejecting the U.N., the IMF, and the World Bank.”
So, why then, if Choudhry and other Islamist fundamentalists so oppose the British values of democracy and human rights, do they choose to stay in the UK? No one is keeping them here against their will.
Also, if we Muslims in the UK disagree with what Choudhry and his like-minded associates are saying, why do we never speak out against it? If we are actually opposed these Islamist hate preachers, why are we failing to take a unanimous public stance to disown and isolate them from our community?
The non-Muslims must be also asking themselves the same questions, and logically assuming from our silence that we agree.
The Islamists’ damage to the British society does not stop with the hatred they spread, but also extends to exporting terrorism to the rest of the world.
For example, Abu Hamzah Al-Masri, who is now facing terrorism charges in the US after being extradited from the UK, turned a local London mosque into a recruiting ground for Islamic radicals. In the 1990s, Abu Hamzah’s followers included the 9/11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui and failed “shoe bomber” Richard Reid, both now serving life sentences in the U.S.
As a sidebar, on May 28, 2009, three of Abu Hamza’s sons and his stepson were sentenced to imprisonment by a British court for a two-year fraud involving stolen cars. And in July 2010, another of Abu Hamza’s sons wassentenced to twelve months prison after pleading guilty to one count of violent disorder at anti-Israel protests in January 2009. In 2012, another one of Abu Hamza’s sons was convicted of armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm with intent to commit an offense.
A phobia, by definition, is an irrational fear: a fear of something that is not real — such as being afraid that there are snakes in the next room. But if you look at the London tube bombings; the death threats against a British schoolteacher whose kindergartners innocently decided to name a teddy bear Mohammed; the recent the murder and attempted decapitation of Lee Rigby, not to mention events abroad, such as two attacks on the World Trade Center, the Madrid train bombings the attempted attacks by the Underwear Bomber, the Shoe Bomber, the Times Square Bomber; the murders of Theo van Gogh, Ilan Halimi, Nick Berg, Daniel Pearl; Jews in Toulouse, Mumbai and Buenos Aires; the victims of US Army Major Nidal Hassan; assaults on Kurt Westergaard, and Lars Hedegaard, and the threats to Salman Rushdie, Geert Wilders and Ayaan Hirsi Ali, among other episodes — these events are all too real, so how can we Muslims in the UK honestly expect people not to be “Islamophobic”? How can we blame the British society for being ill-disposed when some of their Islamic “leaders” are breeding both terrorists and criminals?
There also seems to be a pattern now of Muslim men “grooming” white underage non-Muslim girls into sex rings. For example: in May 2012, nine Muslim men were convicted of being part of a child sexual exploitation ring involving vulnerable white girls. Eight of the men were of British Pakistani origin and one was an Afghan; all Muslims.
One of the victims told the court “of being raped by two men while she was “so drunk she was vomiting over the side of the bed. She later cried herself to sleep.”
Further, in June 2013, seven Muslim men from Oxford were found guilty of grooming underage white girls, aged between 11 and 15, into a sadistic sex ring.
Commenting on the case, Dr. Taj Hargey, the Muslim cleric of the Oxford Islamic Congregation, said, “[R]ace and religion were linked to the recent spate of grooming rings in which Muslim men have targeted under-age white girls.” He added that, “Imams promote grooming rings’ by encouraging followers to think white women deserve to be ‘punished'”.
Dr. Hargey also noted that, “all the men [involved in the Oxford sex ring] — though of different nationalities — were Muslim and they deliberately targeted vulnerable white girls, whom they appeared to regard as easy meat.” Dr. Hargey added that pretending this is not a problem of the Islamic community is “ideological denial.”
So, how can we Muslims blame the British public for fearing for their underage girls when Muslim men keep getting arrested and convicted for grooming white girls into sex rings?
As a Muslim living in the UK, I have come to believe that we Muslims are the main source of “Islamophobia” — by the evil and disturbing acts of some Muslims, and above all by the silence of the majority regarding those acts.
It would appear we have no one to blame but ourselves.

A teenage girl was groomed and raped by up to 30
Asian Muslim men – including a father and his schoolboy son – during an horrific sex attack lasting six hours, an inquiry heard.
Campaigner Shaista Gohir MBE detailed abuse of the young vulnerable Asian girl in a shocking report highlighting how rife grooming was within ethnic communities.
She claimed that sexual exploitation and grooming of young Asian girls by Muslim men of the same ethnic origins was happening under the noses of authorities – with community leaders, schools and families are all too ready to dismiss the attacks or even cover them up.
Muslim and women’s rights activist Ms Gohir used the harrowing Birmingham case, involving a teenage girl who was allegedly raped by between 20 to 30 men, to call on authorities to do more to tackle the issue.
The attack was said to have taken place over six hours and included a father and son, who was in school uniform, and taxi drivers who turned up in groups.
The report, presented to Birmingham City Council, followed interviews with 35 victims, as well as several sex attackers from Muslim communities throughout the UK.
Ms Gohir also challenged the popular view that grooming and exploitation, as in high-profile cases in Rochdale and Oxford, was mainly carried out by gangs of
Asian Muslim men abusing white girls.
‘People tell me they have heard about Rochdale and Oxford and see it as something which happens elsewhere to other people, but it is happening in Birmingham, it’s happening everywhere,’ she said.
This warning came in the same week as a child sex gang was jailed for abusing young girls.
Judge John Bevan QC said the four Roma men and boys and an Iraqi Kurd had ignored the responsibilities of living in this country as he sentenced them for raping and sexually assaulting five girls aged as young as 12.
Hassan Abdulla, left, and Jan Kandrac were part of a gang jailed for a total of 54 years at the Old Bailey in London for raping and sexually abusing girls as young as 12 in Peterborough
Gang members Renato Balog and Zdeno Mirga were jailed in the same week as a campaigner highlighted the shocking scale of abuse of children in ethnic communities across Britain
Four of the gang members were from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Two of the victims were Czech and Slovak, while the other three are English.
Last year, seven Oxford men, mostly of Pakistani heritage, were convicted at the Old Bailey of running a paedophile sex ring.
That trial had followed another, almost exactly 12 months earlier, concerning nine
Asian Muslim men based in Rochdale.
Ms Gohir said girls are more likely to be targeted by people of the same ethnic and cultural background.
They may also be particularly vulnerable to abuse as they can be blackmailed into keeping quiet because of the risk of ‘bringing shame’ on a community, she added.
When abuse is revealed some families are more likely to send the daughter abroad or hastily arrange a wedding to get rid of the problem rather than face it, the report claims.
‘The biggest barrier that we need to address is the shame and honour card,’ Ms Gohir said.
‘They would rather protect the honour of the family and community than report an offender and protect other girls, as well as get the victim the counselling and help they need.’
She also added attitudes of young boys and men needed to change as often they did not see what they did as rape, and had no awareness of the impact of their actions on women.
Members of the council enquiry are considering new measures including raising the issue with parents or teenagers through secondary schools and encouraging greater use of relationship education.
Labour councillor Waseem Zaffer said: ‘I have seen this presentation three times and each time I get angrier and angrier. There are a number of issues in the south Asian community which are swept under the carpet and this is one of them.’
Inquiry chairwoman Cllr Anita Ward added: ‘When we are dealing with child sexual exploitation we need to recognise that it is not only Asian men grooming white girls. The victims do not come from any one particular culture or community, and neither do the perpetrators.
The inquiry will take further evidence in March before compiling a report for the city council.
OFFICIALS MUST STOP ‘TIP-TOEING AROUND RACE IN SEX-GANGS’
MPs said public officials must stop ‘tip-toeing’ around race when tackling child sex gangs and claimed that there is a trend of
Asian Muslim gangs targeting youngsters.
A dangerous trend of Pakistani men grooming young white girls does exist, according to a Commons home affairs committee report in June 2013.
Police, prosecutors and social workers must be able to raise the issue without fear of being accused of racism, the committee said.
But it warned against stereotyping offenders because there is no straight forward link between race and child sexual exploitation.
In shocking conclusions to a year-long inquiry, MPs said there were still areas where victims were being failed by the authorities.
Rochdale and Rotherham councils were accused of being ‘inexcusably slow’ to realise sex abuse was taking place on their doorstep.
And they said both councils had a ‘woeful lack of professional curiosity’ and were responsible for the ‘appalling consequences of their indifference to the suffering of vulnerable children’.

Two police officers were injured and four people arrested when violence broke out between English Defence League marchers and counter-demonstrators today.
Bottles and railings were hurled and at least one smoke bomb was set off as the anti-Islamic group marched through the centre of Slough, Berkshire, where the fascists were waiting.
Officers were forced to don riot gear and let dogs loose in an effort to quell the violence, which resulted in four people being held for public order offences.
One police officer suffered facial injuries and another had an injury to his leg.
The EDL’s march through Slough was in protest against plans for an all-girls Muslim faith school in the city and a Muslim community centre in Langley.
It was met by counter-demonstrations led by the Slough Trades Union Council and the Fascist Network, who accuse the EDL of fascist tendencies.
Authorities estimate that up to 600 people took park in the opposing demonstrations today.
The march descended into violence as EDL supporters entered Slough’s High Street, where street fighting broke out with both police and antifascists.
Authorities estimate that up to 600 people took park in the opposing demonstrations, which were policed by officers from across Thames Valley Police, Hampshire Constabulary and the British Transport Police.
EDL supporters wave Welsh and Israeli flags and shout slogans during their demonstration, which was in protest against a new Muslim school and an Islamic community centre which are planned for the area.
A police spokesman said: ‘The two opposing demonstrations held in Slough passed off without major incident for Thames Valley Police and Slough Borough Council.
‘It is estimated that between 500 to 600 people took part in both demonstrations, one by the English Defence League and a counter demonstration.
‘A number of officers from across Thames Valley Police, Hampshire Constabulary and British Transport Police were visible during the demonstrations as part of a pre-planned comprehensive and proportionate policing operation.
‘A small amount of disorder did break out in the town centre. However officers quickly dealt with the incidents and maintained control of the situation. Four people were arrested for various public order offences.
‘Two officers were injured during the demonstration; one sustained facial injuries and the other an injury to his leg.’
Black-clad Islamic fascists clash with police as they try to oppose the EDL’s march down Slough’s High Street, where bottles and railings were hurled and at least one smoke bomb let off during the fracas.
Superintendent Simon Bowden, local police commander for Slough, said: ‘I am pleased that these demonstrations have passed off without major incident.
‘Disruption was kept to a minimum and we are grateful for the support we received from local communities.
‘There were a handful of arrests made over the course of the day, mainly for public disorder. However, the vast majority of those taking part were well behaved.
‘The demonstrations had understandably caused a great deal of concern amongst some of our communities and I would like to thank them for their tolerance, co-operation and patience.’
Councillor Rob Anderson, leader of Slough Borough Council, said: ‘It was a shame that some elements felt the need to resort to violence but the police dealt with it swiftly and appropriately.
‘Hopefully we can get back to normal in Slough now these groups have left our town.’

Three men have been jailed for a “sickening and mindless” mob attack on a father and his two sons.
Wajid Hussain, 29, already serving a seven-year prison sentence for hitting a man on the head with a hammer, and Zehroon Razaq, 36, of Buxton Street, Dalton Lane,Keighley, were each locked up for two-and-a-half years.
Frantisek Lakatos, 28, of Sunny Mount, Highfield, Keighley, was jailed for 21 months.
A warrant not backed for bail was issued for his brother, Robert Lakatos, who failed to attend yesterday’s sentencing hearing at Bradford CrownCourt.
All the men pleaded guilty at earlier hearings to violent disorder on the afternoon of June 9, 2012.
Hussain, 29, of Colenso Grove, Keighley, will serve his sentence consecutively to the seven years he received in August, 2012, for causing Jerome Banks, 37, grievous bodily harm with intent in a gang attack at a family barbecue in Worth Avenue, Keighley.
Prosecutor Simon Haring said a gang of up to ten men of Asian and East European origin set about brothers Sam and Jake Beveridge in an unprovoked attack in the garden of their home in Woodville Road, Keighley.
When Steven Beveridge arrived home he was punched, kicked and struck with a bat. The violence spilled out into the street and was witnessed by fearful women and children.
Lakatos, who joined in late, delivered “a flying kick” to Steven Beveridge when he was on the ground.
Jake Beveridge’s injuries included a head wound needing five stitches. His brother suffered a cut to his face and their father, who was recovering from a heart attack, was badly bruised.
The family’s three cars suffered criminal damage totalling more than £4,000.
