Two people are feared dead after pedestrians were hit by a white van near a renowned north London mosque, in what is being described as a ‘terrorist attack’.
One man has been arrested but it is feared two more suspects may be on the run after the van ploughed into a crowd outside Finsbury Park Mosque, as they finished taraweeh, Ramadan evening prayers.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing bystanders wrestle the suspect to the floor and pin him down until officers arrived at around 20 past midnight.
Others added that the congregation of victims were trying to save a man who had collapsed at a bus stop, and other unconfirmed reports suggested that the attackers had knives and a man had been stabbed.

Emergency service crews were also spotted trying giving cardiac massages to the injured in a desperate bid to save them.
Mehdi, a 38-year-old worshipper, told the Evening Standard: ‘There were loads of people coming out and the van took a left and went straight into them.
‘I saw four of five people one the floor. At least one person was stabbed.
‘The crowd caught a guy. He tried to do a London Bridge thing.’
Jeremy Corbyn has expressed his shock at the incident, which took place in his Islington North constituency.
He said: ‘I’m totally shocked at the incident at Finsbury Park tonight. I’ve been in touch with the mosques, police and Islington council regarding the incident.
‘My thoughts are with those and the community affected by this awful event.’
Finsbury Park Mosque has undergone wholesale changes under new leader Mohammed Kozbar, since the days when hook-handed Abu Hamza was imam there from 1997 until 2003.
Mr Kozbar told The Sun: ‘Whoever did this, he did it to hurt people and it’s a terrorist attack.
‘We call it a terrorist attack as we called it in Manchester, Westminster and London Bridge.’
Witnesses told MailOnline that they saw two additional suspects run away once the van had stopped.
Atikur Arhman, 41, from Finsbury Park, said: ‘There was three people in there. They caught one and are looking for another two.
‘An elderly man who just came from the mosque, he just fainted and people were picking him up when the van he just sped up and ran them over when the guy was one the floor.
‘People said the driver had a gun with him.
‘It’s not safe anymore after what’s been happening. It’s not been safe to walk.
‘Two people ran away and one got taken away to the police.
Another person saw the horror unfold added: ‘When they stopped two guys run away and with one guy people stopped him.
‘If he’d gone for the main entrance then maybe 15 or 20 would have been killed.’
He added he heard there had been fatalities but did not want to ‘jump to conclusions.’
Fabian Santana, 22, went to a nearby chicken shop before coming out and seeing the carnage unfold.
He said: ‘I went in the chicken shop and my friend was outside, when I come back outside the same guy who was standing next to my friend was on the floor.
‘If I didn’t go in the chicken shop I could have been done for.
‘I just feel like London for the last couple of weeks has not been safe. I’d rather go out of London.
‘One of the attackers looked drunk off his face.
‘Whose going to get in a van and drive straight at Muslims at this time?’
A different anonymous witness said: ‘There was three people beside the van, just one van. One is tall and the other two people ran away.
‘The people finished with the mosque and were going home normally and then the van bumped into them.’

Jamal, 21, told MailOnline: ‘I think it’s terrible what happened in so many locations I don’t know if I’m going to be alive tomorrow, I’m worried what’s going to happen tomorrow, it’s scary
‘It’s not safe in London, total, 100 per cent it is not safe, I’m worried to come out of my house right now, it’s not safe.’
Andrew, a courier who did not wish to give his surname, said he saw three people on the floor and at least one of them appeared to be in Muslim dress.
The 45-year-old, of St Albans, Hertfordshire, said he was driving back from a night shift when he saw the aftermath of the collision.
He said: ‘When I drove past slowly I could count three people on the floor and police were performing CPR on one of them.
‘The guy having CPR performed on him was in a gown, ethnic clothing.’
One resident told how he jumped out of the way as the van struck pedestrians.
The man, who did not want to be named, said: ‘The gentleman went straight down this road, people were just conversing, talking, just doing what we’re doing.
‘And he just came into all of us.
‘There was a lot of people. We got told to move straight away.
‘I was shocked, shocked, shocked. There were bodies around me.
‘Thank God I just moved to the side, I just jumped. Everyone is hurt. Everyone is actually hurt.’
Jennifer Heape said: ‘Apparently a van has ploughed into people coming from Finsbury Park mosque. People are reporting of several injured, some fatalities.
‘Police are escorting people home very calmly. They are making sure people stay indoors.
‘No panic, but it’s very serious. A LOT of helicopters.’
An eyewitness who lives on Seven Sisters Road told the BBC there were people ‘shouting and screaming’.
She added: ‘Everyone was shouting ‘a van’s hit people’.

‘There was this white van stopped outside Finsbury Park Mosque that seems to have hit people who were coming out of the mosque after prayers finished.’
A Metropolitan Police helicopter was seen circling overhead as photographs posted on social media showed a huge response from the emergency services.
Dozens of police cars and vans cordoned off a large area of the normally bustling thoroughfare as stunned locals gathered at the scene.
Images on Twitter appeared to show a clean-shaven white man with black hair being detained by police officers behind a van, surrounded by a group of shouting onlookers.
The vehicle in question appears to have been rented from a company based in Wales, Pontaclun Van Hire.
A woman named Hajal said her sister witnessed the immediate aftermath of the incident.
She told LBC Radio: ‘Everyone was just running everywhere she didn’t realise what was going on at first until she people on the floor.
‘She ran to see first victim and realised it was a family friend.’
‘An old man didn’t have a pulse. Police came and took over. She said it could have been an accident.
‘At first she thought there was some sort of fight. There were 15 to 20 people hitting somebody – she didn’t realise it was the man who ran over the people.
‘She said someone was still under the van but he was breathing. The second [more seriously injured] person was family friend who at first said he couldn’t feel his legs.’
Another person who lives nearby, Ishmael, told the station: ‘I pray there regularly. I’m there right now. There’s a very close friend of mine and in a very bad critical condition.
‘I hear from the other guys that they just stand there and have a coffee.
‘The van drove to there. I had just left the area because I wasn’t feeling very well.
‘One of my friends witnessed it. He told me the van went through the people standing there. 6 or 7 people, and one Asian guy is definitely dead.
‘My friend is in bad critical condition. He was under the van. His head was bleeding.
‘Someone took a video of him. Very shocking video. He’s got family and a wife.
‘The police answered the phone and told me he’s alright. But the other friend they don’t really know his condition. They’re both in ambulances and heading to a London Hospital.
‘Something’s going to happen here one day here. Since that incident I had a feeling something was going to happen to the Mosque. We don’t have no security.
‘This is Ramadan and there was no security at all. Anyone who wants to do anything can come there. If someone wants to kill hundreds they can come there easily.’
Cynthia Vanzella said on Twitter: ‘Horrible to watch police officers doing cardiac massage at people on the floor, desperately trying to save them. I just hope they did.’
Another social media user reported: ‘Islamaphobic attack in Finsbury Park right now. A van swerved off the main road and ran over several Muslim men.’
A Met spokesman said officers were called at 12.20am ‘to reports of a vehicle in collision with pedestrians’.
They added: ‘Officers are on scene with other emergency services. There are a number of casualties being worked on at the scene. There has been one person arrested.’
The incident follows two terrorist attacks in a matter of weeks at Westminster, Manchester and London Bridge.
The Muslim Council of Britain has confirmed that worshippers leaving Finsbury Park Mosque were targeted when a van ran into them, adding: ‘Our prayers are with the victims.’
London Ambulance Service Deputy Director of Operations, Kevin Bate said: ‘We were called at 12.15am to reports of a road traffic collision at Seven Sisters Road.
‘We have sent a number of ambulance crews, advance paramedics and specialist responses teams to the scene. An advance trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance has also been dispatched by car.
‘We are working closely with other members of the emergency services at the scene.
‘Our priority is to assess the level and nature of injuries and ensure those in the most need are treated first and taken to hospital.
‘More information will follow when we have it.’

Many of the sex crimes are being perpetrated by Muslim child grooming gangs responsible for drugging, raping and torturing hundreds and possibly thousands of British girls.
But another wave of sex crimes involves predatory Muslim minicab drivers who are raping female passengers. The number of so-called minicab rapes is snowballing to such an extent that a British judge has issued a warning that no woman can expect to be safe while traveling in a cab.
Reliable statistics on minicab rapes nationwide are difficult to obtain, and Freedom of Information requests seeking accurate data on minicab-related sexual assaults are routinely denied (here and here).
However, a much acclaimed report produced by the London Metropolitan Police Service estimates that on average there are a total of 1,125 sexual assaults, including rapes, each year involving minicab drivers in just London; this works out to approximately 22 sexual assaults against women by taxi drivers each week in England’s capital city alone.
Moreover, according to a report entitled, “Ending Violence against Women and Girls in the UK,” published by the Home Office in March 2013, only around one in ten women who experience serious sexual assault report it to the police. As a result, one can infer that the actual number of minicab rapes across Britain as a whole is far greater than many are willing to admit.
Apart from a few high-profile cases, minicab rapes are rarely reported by national newspapers in Britain, apparently because the politically incorrect crimes are not deemed to be newsworthy. But a survey of stories buried deep inside local newspapers shows that minicab rapes are occurring in all parts of England, Wales and Scotland on an almost daily basis…
A PARTIAL LIST:
In a recent case in London that was reported by national newspapers, Mohamed Hacene-Chaouch, 46, was sentenced to seven years in prison for raping a 24-year-old female passenger in his unlicensed taxi. Hacene-Chaouch — an Algerian married father of five — assaulted the woman after she got lost in Soho, central London.
In nearby Windsor, Anshul Sharma, 23, was charged with raping a 19-year-old woman who mistook his car for a legitimate taxi. She had been searching for a cab in the early hours of the morning when she was approached by Sharma, who claimed he was driving a licensed taxi. After she was in the car, he drove her to a remote location where he raped her.
In Blackburn on July 9, Talib Hussain, 62, was charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl, a passenger in his minicab.
In Blackpool on July 8, Turkish-born Fatih Top, 38, was charged with raping an 18-year-old woman who was a passenger in his cab.
In Shrewsbury on July 6, Ahmet Baser, 34, was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison for raping an underage girl in his taxi. The victim and her friend were picked up by Baser’s taxi outside a downtown night spot. After dropping off her friend, Baser went on to drive his victim into the remote countryside, where he raped her before taking her home.
In Nottingham on June 12, police said they were looking for an “Asian” (Muslim) taxi driver who sexually assaulted a 19-year-old passenger in his cab.
In Berkshire on May 21, Arshad Arif, 28, appeared at the Reading Crown Court on charges of driving a 17-year-old passenger in his cab to a remote park some 25 miles from her home and raping her twice. Arif was identified after it emerged he had earlier allowed the schoolgirl to use his phone, with her father noting down the number.
In Oldham on May 16, Tamur Yaqub, 32, was sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of attempting to rape a 15-year-old girl in the back of his car. The jury heard that Yaqub — a married father of six — had dragged the girl into his private-hire taxi after spotting her walking home. Judge Jeffrey Lewis of the Manchester Crown Court said: “You used considerable force against a girl who was no match for you. You subjected her to degradation and you have shown not the slightest remorse.”
In Hemel Hempstead on May 7, Mashain Pitchei, 45, was sentenced to four years in prison for raping a 20-year-old female passenger. Pitchei, who pretended to be a taxi driver, was parked in the downtown Marlowes district when he offered a lift to the victim, who had been on a night out with friends. Believing it was a licensed taxi, she got into the vehicle and he drove off. Pitchei then pulled over in a suburb where he raped her.
In Heaton on April 11, Mohammed Akram, 35, pled guilty to sexually assaulting a woman in his taxi. After the woman entered the vehicle, Akram — a married father of four — drove to a remote location, where he attacked her.
In Peterborough on February 20, Mohammed Umar Anwar, 31, lost an appeal against the City Council’s decision to revoke his taxi license after he admitted to police that he got a 15-year-old female passenger to perform a sex act on him when she had no money to pay the fare.
In Manchester on February 18, Elhadi Sakhri, 42, was sentenced to seven years and ten months for two counts of raping men who were passengers in his taxi. Sakhri — who was granted asylum in Britain after complaining he faced persecution in Algeria because he was bisexual — forced once of his victims up against a wall and raped him. He dragged the other victim by his arms down an alleyway where he raped him.
In London on February 6, police said they were looking for an “Asian” (Muslim) man accused of sexually assaulting three women in the Canning Town district.
In Leeds on January 9, Mohammed Shahin, 28, was sentenced to seven years in prison for raping a 20-year-old passenger who fell asleep in his taxi as he drove her home. A jury at the Nottingham Crown Court heard that from the moment the woman got in, Shahin switched off the GPS tracking system that monitored his vehicle’s movements, suggesting he had a sinister motive from the outset. When she woke up, she found that Shahin had parked in a remote street in an unknown location. He then climbed into the back of the car and raped her before dropping her off near her home. The judge ordered that Shahin, after serving his sentence, be deported to his home country of Bangladesh.
In Accrington, Mohammed Ishaq, 38, was accused of raping a 35-year-old female passenger after taking her home.
Also in Accrington, Mohammed Baig, 45, was accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old passenger. After dropping her off at her home, Baig left the victim with the words, “I’ll look for you. I’ll come and find you.”
In Billingham, Khalile Maqsood, 31, was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison for abducting and raping a 20-year-old female passenger at knifepoint. Maqsood — a married father of four — offered the victim a lift. But when she got into the taxi he took a series of wrong turns, then stopped in a deserted parking garage and turned off the engine. Maqsood told jurors that the victim had led him on and had been “really up for it.” He added: “I’m only human at the end of the day. She’d come on to me. I made a mistake. I just gave in to temptation. She led me on. She consented to it. That’s what she wanted.” The cab driver — whose wife was pregnant with their fourth child when he committed the offense — was expressionless as he was led from the dock. Judge Rodney Jameson of the Newcastle Crown Court said Maqsood had shown little understanding of, and no remorse for, what he had done.
In East Sussex, Abul Malik, 29, was jailed for seven years after being found guilty of raping a 19-year-old female passenger when she could not pay for her £6.80 ($10) fare home.
In Edinburgh, Ibrahim Selman fled Scotland after raping a woman and assaulting several others while working as a taxi driver. Selman, who was in the UK as an illegal immigrant, went on the run to the Sudan days after holding a female passenger hostage, repeatedly raping her and leaving her for dead in the street.
In Hull, Masoud Rahimi, 37, was convicted of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old female passenger. The Iranian-born Rahimi denied it was him until the CCTV footage was shown to him, with the girl fleeing from his car as he was filling up the tank with gasoline.
In London, Salam Rahman, 27, and Mohammed Elahi, 26, were jailed for nine years for gang-raping two female passengers, one of whom was a 26-year-old newlywed.
In Clapham, south London, Atiq Rehman, 20, tricked a 22-year-old woman into thinking he was a legitimate taxi driver. Rehman, an illegal immigrant from Pakistan who was twice refused asylum in Britain, raped the woman for 45 minutes while asking her how many children she wanted to have.
Also in London, Assadullah Razaq, 31, was sentenced to eight years in jail for raping a 28-year-old female passenger. The defense attorney said that Razaq, an Afghan refugee and a married father of three, admitted to having sex with the woman, but maintained it was not rape. His attorney said Razaq came to Britain after being tortured by the Taliban, and that something had affected his mental state.
At King’s Cross in central London, police said they were looking for a Turkish cab driver who raped an 18-year-old passenger after driving her to a remote location. After the attack, he took her to Gloucester Place in Westminster where he pushed her from his vehicle and left her lying in a gutter.
In Manchester, Shahjahan Islam was sentenced to nine years in prison for sexually assaulting a 27-year-old female passenger. The victim had been out with friends when she decided to go home and got into a taxi driven by Islam. She gave Islam her address, he programmed it into his GPS and departed. After several minutes the woman realized they were going the wrong way. Eventually he stopped the car, climbed into the passenger seat and tried to rape her. DNA recovered from the woman led officers to identify Islam as the suspect.
In Newport, South Wales, Asif Iqbal, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for raping two female passengers on late-night rides home. Iqbal’s wife was also jailed for six months after admitting to perverting the course of justice by offering money to one of the victims to withdraw her complaint. Police fear many more women may have been attacked by Iqbal, who targeted women outside pubs and nightclubs in the hope they would be drunk.
In Portsmouth, Muhammed Hasan, 35, was accused of locking a 19-year-old woman with learning disabilities into his cab and sexually assaulting her.
In St. Helens, Mazish Muzaffar, 43, was charged with assaulting a female passenger in his taxi.
In Sheffield, Zahoor Mahmood, 40, was jailed for eight years for sexually assaulting two female passengers. Instead of taking his first victim to her home, he locked her in his cab for more than two hours, got into the back with her and tried to get her to snort cocaine to get her “in the mood.” Three weeks later, Mahmood — a married father of four — spotted a 17-year-old girl walking home after a night out. He offered to take her home for free when she said she had no money for the fare, but then locked her in his cab for an hour, tried to get her to snort cocaine and then molested her. Before the attacks, Mahmood, who has been driving taxis in Sheffield for more than 15 years, had twice been stripped of his license after being convicted of drug offenses, but twice won appeals that allowed him to continue working.
In Teesside, Pakistani-born Liaqat Ali, 42, was sentenced to seven years in prison for raping a 16-year-old passenger as she dozed off drunk in his taxi. Ali — a married father of four — stopped for the girl in Middlesbrough and drove her to a secluded spot, where he attacked her. Ali admitted to picking the victim up but denied anything had happened. Once results of DNA evidence were obtained, he admitted to having lied.
And the same in Australia…

A gang of robbers who attacked men across east London with a baseball bat during a vicious five day rampage have been jailed.
Yusuf Akram, 18, Usamah Aftab ,18, Hamzah Jawyd 17, Mohamed Ibrahim Ali ,18, and Thamid Zahman 17, carried out eight robberies across Newham and Tower Hamlets in March leaving their victims with horrific injuries.
Yesterday, they were jailed for more than 43 years at Snaresbrook Crown Court while a sixth man from Birmingham will appear at hearing in April to see if he is fit to stand trial.
The court heard the brutal attacks were targeted at lone men at night for personal belongings, often at low value.
In one incident, an Oyster card was snatched.
Each victim was struck in the back of the head with a baseball bat and repeatedly kicked and punched on the ground.
CCTV footage of one attack in Creighton Avenue, East Ham, shows how a 36-year-old man suffered skull and facial fractures as well as bleeding on the brain.
He remained in hospital for four weeks and remains unwell as a result.
It was one of two robberies that night after another man was knocked unconsciousness less than an hour later.
The victim’s mobile phone, cash card, a quantity of cash and Oyster Card were stolen in the robbery.
He was treated in hospital for skull and neck fractures.
The group was caught through CCTV and DNA when their clothing was matched with victims’ blood.
The first arrest was made on the day after the eighth attack and led to the identity of the remaining five culprits.
Akram, 18, of Sewell Street, Plaistow, was sentenced to eight years in prison and was fined £1,000 for possessing an offensive weapon at the time of his arrest.
Aftab ,18, of Lucas Avenue, Plaistow, was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment.
Jawyd 17, was jailed for eight years and Ali ,18, of Whyteville House, Forest Gate was sentenced to nine years in prison.
While Zahman 17, was sentenced to eight years and six months’ imprisonment.
Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Piscopo, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said he believed the group would have killed had the attacks continued.
He said: “These were serious acts of violence and a clear example of a gang going on the rampage.
“I honestly believe they would have continued and eventually killed someone if they had not been apprehended.
“One victim pretended to be dead in a desperate attempt to get the gang to cease their unrelenting attack.”
“The gang were calculated and brutal in their planning, using a car to drop off members of the group to inflict terrifyingly violent robberies before moving on to a new patch.
“I would like to praise the bravery of the witnesses who came forward and helped investigators piece together the actions and movements of these disgracefully dangerous individuals.
“Such was the level of violence that the Judge in this case deferred sentencing to a later date to allow him time to consider the sentence term.
“The custodial sentences handed down today have removed five very dangerous individuals from society.”

A sex attacker targeted Muslims in hijabs because he “had a fetish” for women wearing the traditional Islamic clothing.
Scotland Yard launched a manhunt for Emmanuel Ndegwe, 25, after he followed Somali women and broke into their homes before attacking them.
In one attack he stalked a woman for a year and then knocked her to the ground and tried to rip off her clothes as she fought back in front of her horrified children. He also kicked and punched her.
The Standard today reveals the shocking details of the case, which will be aired on BBC documentary The Met tonight.
Ndegwe was jailed for six years in March after Detective Inspector Tracey Miller hunted him down in a “personal mission” after being horrified by the suffering of his victims.
She read one report about an attack and immediately linked it to a strikingly similar one she had read previously.
Detective Inspector Tracey Miller. Photo courtesy of: London Evening Standard
She told the Standard: “The victim descriptions were identical, the suspect descriptions were identical and so were the methods and my first feeling was it was the same guy. And when I plotted their addresses on the map, they were only hundreds of yards apart.
“With certain other offences, you get less emotion involved, because they have less victim impact. But equally it still feels you’ve been out hunting and found your target and now he’s in custody, so you get a real sense of achievement and satisfaction. You take it as a personal mission.
“From my perspective, it felt he had ‘a thing’ about women wearing traditional Islamic clothing. I strongly suspect that he had a fetish. We found a lot of pornography on his phone and quite a lot of that was Somali women.”
She also revealed that without CCTV she would not have been able to track down the predator in just 18 days.
After one woman came forward police traced Ndegwe’s movements on cameras near the scene of the attack on her, watching him go into a Ladbrokes betting shop.
They got a close-up of his face and circulated it to all betting shops within a close radius, and one recognised him.
Ndegwe “shoulder surfed” his victims, following them to their front door and slipping in behind before violently trying to force them into submission.
In one attack a woman’s children stood by screaming while in another he forced himself on a carer in front of the 89-year-old woman she was pushing in a wheelchair.
DI Miller said the victims “were utterly terrified and in utter, utter fear. One didn’t know if he wanted to rape her or kill her. And another lady he stalked for over a year.
“For me it was probably one of my best investigations, one I’m most proud of in terms of the impact, crime preventions and reassuring his victims he’s now in prison.”
Ndegwe pleaded guilty to two counts of trespass with intent to commit a sexual act and one count of stalking.
The counts related to two victims, but police believe there could be more. At least one other woman has come forward but there is currently not enough evidence to charge him. Police are calling for any other victims to call them on the 101 line.
The Met documentary, to be aired on BBC1 at 9pm tonight, also reveals it costs Scotland Yard £6.2million to police Notting Hill Carnival. It reveals 13,000 officers work over the weekend attended by 1.5million party-goers.
Residents tell of a “nightmare” in which people urinate, vomit and commit crime in the streets, including stabbings.
Sheila Robertson, who has lived there since the 1960s, tells the programme: “The main thing is the volume [of the music] and the fact no one seems to take any notice of us.
“A little old lady in a housing association, dying of terminal cancer, she came out and begged them to be quiet, and they said ‘f*** off, we do what we like’.
“And that’s how we feel about carnival now. It does nothing for residents. And it’s not about race – the white trash is as trashy as you ever, ever set eyes on.”

We will be monitoring closely to see if Anjem Choudary now calls for the execution of these Muslim women that were raped. After all, according to the tenets and mandates of Sharia law, the same sharia law that Anjem Choudary is attempting to force on the UK, these Muslim women committed the crime of ‘Adultery.’ (ie.) They had sexual-relations with a man outside of wedlock.
Will Anjem Choudary be consistent and hold these Muslim women to the same standards of punishment that he is seeking to impose on the Western indigenous women (or) will he be a hypocrite and allow for a ‘double standard?’
I guess we will see…
